Keep Your Home and Business Dry, Safe, and Protected

Gutters & Gutter Guards

Ever noticed water pouring over the edge of your gutters, or maybe dripping through a crack? If so, it’s probably time to think about new gutters or adding gutter guards. Most people don’t realize just how much a gutter system does. It’s not just about the roof — gutters protect your foundation, siding, landscaping, everything. When they fail, water doesn’t just vanish. It sneaks into places you really don’t want it, and the damage can get out of hand fast.

Keep your home and business, dry, safe and protected with a properly installed and sized gutter system.  When you have a gutter system that is not working correctly you will have much bigger problems – water damage to the edge of your roof and fascia, erosion around your foundation and leaks in your basement, stained or rotted siding, landscape erosion and damage to plants, ice dams in the winter and mold and moisture problems.

Gutter Guard Installation

Protecting your gutters from being blocked with debris will make sure the water goes where it should even in with heavy rains – away from hour home or business.  And the best part gutter guards reduce maintenance for the property owner.

Gutter Guards – how important are they?  They can protect your gutters from overflowing during heavy rains, water sneaking behind the gutters and causing the wood to rot, gutters to sag because of debris build-up, and prevent ice dams in the winter.  Unfortunately, most of the time people don’t even realize their gutters are clogged until they start seeing damage and then it is to late – they’ve got bigger problems.

You may need new gutters or guards installed if:

Water is spilling over the edges

Gutters are sagging or pulling away

You see water pooling by your foundation

Stains on your siding or brick

Ice along the edge of your roof in winter

Frequent clogs

Rust or cracks

Are My Gutters the Right Size?

A lot of older St. Louis buildings still have the older 5-inch gutters. Sure, they work fine in light rain, but they just can’t keep up with the heavy rains our area experiences. Typical problems with the 5 inch gutters are:

  • They overflow every time it rains hard

  • Water flows behind gutters causing rotting wood

  • Frequent clogs from leaves and debris

National Roofing recommends 6-inch seamless gutters.  These larger gutters can move a lot more water faster.  This is extremely important during heavy downpours or when heavy snowfall starts to melt.  The wider channels also reduce the risk of leaves and debris clogging up your gutters allowing water to flow correctly.

When you upgrade to 6-inch gutters, you’re not just buying larger gutters. You’re protecting your home from basement leaks, interior water damage, fascia and soffit rot, and even ice dams. It’s a small change - but the right gutter system makes a big difference.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most homes need gutters cleaned twice a year—usually spring and fall. If you’ve got a lot of trees, you’ll need to clean them more often. Adding gutter guards cuts down on the time you spend cleaning.

  • Look for water spilling over the edges, sagging, leaks at the seams, standing water inside the gutter, rust, cracks, or pieces pulling apart. Also, watch for water pooling near your foundation.

  • Small issues like loose fasteners, minor leaks, or a bad slope can usually be fixed. But if your gutters have rust, cracks, the wrong size, or keep failing, it’s time to replace them.

  • We mostly install seamless aluminum gutters, custom-fit for your building. They’re tough, low-maintenance, and come in a bunch of colors to match your place.

  • Yes. With fewer joints, you get fewer leaks, smoother water flow, and a cleaner look compared to sectional gutters.

  • Gutter guards sit over or inside your gutters. They let water in but block out leaves, twigs, and other debris. Pick the right style and get it installed right, and you’ll deal with way fewer clogs and overflows.

  • For most homes and businesses in St. Louis—especially near trees—they’re a smart investment. Gutter guards save you time, cut down on clog-related damage, and help your gutters last longer.

  • Downspouts move water away from your foundation. If they’re in the wrong spot or too small, you can end up with erosion, leaks in the basement, or washed-out soil. Getting drainage right is just as important as the gutters – you want to keep water flowing away from your home or business.

  • If a covered storm damages your gutters, insurance often helps. We’ll document the damage and take photos to help with your claim.

  • Yes. Clogged or overflowing gutters can rot your fascia, damage the roof’s edge, cause leaks, and even lead to ice dams. All of that can shorten your roof’s lifespan.
